Top speed and turning rate
The maximum forward speed and turning rate
of your Segway GT can be set at different values based upon which key
is used:
- Beginner Key (black):
Maximum speed: 6 mph (9.6 km/h)
Slower turning rate
- Intermediate Key (yellow):
Maximum speed: 8 mph (12.9 km/h)
Medium turning rate
- Advanced Key (red):
Maximum speed: 12.5 mph (20 km/h)
Most responsive turning rate
- Standby Key:
Allows the GT to remain powered while stationary

10-14 miles (16-22.5 km) on the course
15-22 miles (24-35.4 km) off the course
The range for each Segway GT model varies with terrain, payload
and riding style. Under normal riding conditions on the course,
you can expect to ride about 10-14 miles. That will let you
play up to 36 holes of golf on a single charge. Off the course,
you can expect the range to increase to 15-22 miles.

|

When stored and charged at room temperature, the Segway GT
can operate in environments ranging from 14º to 122º F
(-10º to 50º C). Actual performance is dependent
on battery temperature, terrain, riding style and payload.

The GT's enhanced-traction tires and wide profile make it
ideal for the varied terrain of a golf course. The Segway
GT's inertial sensors constantly monitor the rider's position
relative to gravity. This allows the Segway GT to adjust
for changes in terrain while keeping the rider upright.

Total capacity (rider & cargo): 260
lbs (118 kg)
Rider: 100-250 lbs (45-110 kg)
The Segway GT can carry a total of 260 lbs., including rider
and golf clubs.

Platform height: 8 in (20 cm)
Footprint: 21 in x 30.5 in (53.3 x 77.5 cm)
Ground Clearance: 3 in (7.6 cm)
We designed the Segway GT to take up not much more space than
the average person. A little wider than the average person's
shoulders, it raises you about 8 inches off the ground, providing
a clear sight line of the course.

|

95 lbs (43 kg)
The Segway GT was built to handle the variable terrain of the
golf course, and handle your clubs with ease. It can fit in
the back of most minivans and SUVs.

One characteristic of any person or golfer is the ability to turn in
place without impacting any nearby person or object, something few
vehicles can do. By balancing on a single axle, Segway GT riders
can also turn in place.

Lithium-ion (Li-ion) Battery Packs
The Segway GT is one of the first Segway models that comes
standard with Saphion lithium-ion battery packs. The batteries
are designed with on-board electronics that automatically
monitor both the condition and temperature of the batteries.
Batteries can be recharged by utilizing any 90 to 260 volt
and 50 to 60 Hz AC outlet (typically accessible in most countries).
A complete cycle charge will take eight to ten hours, which
at 10 cents per KW-h, equates to less than 10 cents of electricity.
Li-ion batteries are designed for approximately 300-500 full
charge/discharge cycles.
Range, battery life and recharge times can be affected by
factors such as terrain, temperature, speed of operation,
rider weight and load, proper storage techniques and environmental
conditions.

Redundant electrical systems.
Robust mechanical systems.
Safety is our top priority in both design and operation. To
help ensure that both Segway GT users and those near them remain
safe, we built redundancy into the balancing and electrical
systems. If any system begins operating at diminished capacity,
the other is programmed to assume responsibility. This allows
the Segway GT to maintain balance and bring the rider to a safe
stop.
The highest design standards were implemented in building the
Segway GT's mechanical structures, and each part has been thoroughly
tested and analyzed to ensure such high standards were met.
